Indy Zoo Revue #6: A Cold-Blooded Cache

Turtle!

Turtle. Tortoise. Terrapin. Shell guy. Whatever.

Previously on Midlife Crisis Crossover:

In June my wife and I took my mom for a walk around the premises of our own Indianapolis Zoo to check out the current residents and the architectural upgrades on a sunny but not-so-sweltering Saturday. In this very special miniseries, we’ll take a look at the beasts and critters who welcomed us and hundreds of other families along the way.

In today’s chapter: a smattering of reptiles from the Zoo’s climate-controlled Deserts enclosure. Plus one amphibian for, like, diversity or whatever.

African plated lizard!

African plated lizard represents for the slightly speedier contingent of the reptile kingdom.

Lizard Duo!

Sure you settle for just one lizard, but with two you can hold a race. Or maybe a staring contest.

Turtle + Gravel!

Turtles, on the other hand, would rather keep to themselves and not stress out so much over competition, thank you very much.

Long-Necked Turtle!

The long-necked turtle is on the same page, but has the added advantage of slightly better scenery to enjoy.

Colorado River frog!

The Colorado River frog lives like a hermit in a small tank in a dark room filled with sluggish, non-photogenic snakes and resents sharing an entry with all these non-amphibious interlopers.

To be continued! Other chapters in this miniseries:

Part 1: Lions and Tigers and Bears!
Part 2: The Birds!
Part 3: Reluctant Monkeys
Part 4: The Birds II: Budgie & Lorie
Part 5: Everybody in the Water
Part 7: Last Call for Critters
Part 8: Habitats & Handicraft
