One of many outtakes from my recent visit to the annual Festival of Trees exhibit at the Indiana Historical Society. This one was brought to them by Circle Centre Mall.
Hey, kids! It’s that beloved holiday tradition where we just post a few recent Christmas-themed photos with some short yet sincere seasons’ greetings, and we give readers a break from my usual self-indulgent verbosity. It’s the most wonderful time of the MCC year! Click, scroll, ooh, ahh, and keep on frolicking down the internet superhighway!

Spotted above the Society’s temporary Chuck Taylor exhibit. You’ve heard of Elf on the Shelf, now get ready for…

Andy is one of our pastors. A few Sundays ago he preached an entire sermon about joy for which he dressed as Buddy the Elf. In context it was brilliant.

A front yard not far from us, in a spot where it’s impossible to brake for photos except in 6 a.m. fog.

Church-shaped snow globe. In person, persistence of vision lets you see the colorful sparkles inside.

Christmas-bedecked Anne running around a living room and photographing a dozen youngsters we’re related to, though we can barely name half of them.

At Christmas Eve service they let us have lit candles again! But we weren’t allowed to ride home with them in the car like that.
If you’re scrolling on your phone while taking a break from your family, and you’ve included us in your scrolling, then welcome to this brief respite! We wish a Merry Christmas to you ‘n’ yours, High-Spirited Holidays, Vivacious Vacation, Divine December, and/or congratulations on reaching the light at the end of the 2023 tunnel despite the obstacles and heartbreaks. May your days be merrier and brighter, your celebrations invigorating, your downtime rewarding, and your internet circles calm and peaceful and filled with joyous content. If they’re not, maybe find brighter circles? Or cuddle up with a cozy, non-interactive, non-vitriolic book or movie instead?
